Batter my heart, three-person'd God, for you As yet but knock, breathe, shine, and seek to mend;   That I may rise and stand, o'erthrow me, and bend   Your force to break, blow, burn, and make me new.                             [-------- paradox-----------l I, like an usurp'd town to another due,   Labor to admit you, but oh, to no end;   Reason, your viceroy in me, me should defend,   But is captiv'd, and proves weak or untrue.   Yet dearly I love you, and would be lov'd fain,   But am betroth'd unto your enemy;   Divorce me, untie or break that knot again,   Take me to you, imprison me, for I,   Except you enthrall me, never shall be free,   Nor ever chaste, except you ravish me.

(일어나서 걷는다->인유) 나를 내던지세요. 구부리세요.   깨지고, 치고, 타게하여 저를 새롭게 만들 당신의 힘을                                             // God- 대장장이, 나-쇳덩어리 다른 이에게 충성하여  강탈당한 마을같은 저는                                ㄴ poetic diction 당신을 받아들이려 애쓰지만 소용없는 일입니다.   내 안에 있는 당신의 총독인 이성-metaphor은 나를 방어해야하지만   포로가 되어 약하고 진실되지 않음을 증명할 뿐입니다.   그러나 나는 당신을 사랑합니다. 그리고 기꺼이 사랑받을 것입니다.   그러나 나는 당신의 적과 약혼이 되어있습니다.   나를 이혼시켜주시고 그 매듭을 다시 끊어지게 해주세요.   저를 당신에게 데려가서 감옥에 가두세요. 왜냐하면   당신에게 매혹당하지 않으면 자유로워질 수 없고,   당신이 나를 강간하지 않으면 정숙해 질 수 없기 때문입니다.                                                    // God-신랑, 나- 신부
